I am proud to introduce the Nasinu Town Council Strategic Plan 2024–2030, a comprehensive roadmap to guide Nasinu's transformation into a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable city by 2030. This plan embodies our unwavering commitment to creating a connected, caring, and forward-thinking city that prioritizes innovation, environmental stewardship, and the well-being of our residents.
As Fiji’s largest municipality by population, Nasinu is poised to lead the nation in sustainable urban development. This strategic plan addresses the challenges of rapid urban growth while seizing opportunities to foster innovation, equity, and resilience.
Grounded in our INSPIRE Framework, the plan aligns with the National Development Plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting our global and local vision for progress.
To achieve our vision, we have outlined four strategic pillars and key objectives:
I. Modern and Resilient Infrastructure
A. Enhance public facilities, roads, and transportation networks.
B. Advance digital connectivity to meet the evolving needs of our growing community.
II. Economic Growth and Innovation
A. Empower local businesses and attract investments.
B. Launch initiatives like the Nasinu Innovation Hub to drive creativity and entrepreneurship.
III. Environmental Sustainability and Resilience
A. Reduce emissions, promote renewable energy, and expand recycling programs.
B. Plant 12,000 trees annually and prioritize climate resilience across all operations
IV. Good Governance and Community Engagement
A. Foster inclusivity, transparency, and accountability in our governance.
B. Strengthen partnerships with residents, businesses, and stakeholders to ensure collaborative progress.
We are committed to delivering impactful initiatives, including:
Upgraded Infrastructure: Improved roads, parks, and public amenities.
Smart City Solutions: Investments in public Wi-Fi, smart lighting, and traffic management systems.
Green Projects: Renewable energy adoption and expanded urban green spaces.
Community Empowerment: Regular consultations and programs to involve residents in decision-making.
Our flagship Nasinu Smart City Initiative, with a forecasted operational budget of FJ$60 million (USD$25 million), will drive this transformation. Over six years, this initiative will enhance transportation, public safety, and service delivery while creating economic opportunities and prioritizing sustainability.
To ensure success, we will monitor our progress through measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and adapt strategies to meet changing needs. By working together with our community and partners, we can build a city where everyone feels connected, empowered, and proud to call Nasinu home.
